“It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that the LORD your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth: and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall listen to the voice of the LORD your God. You shall be blessed in the city, and you shall be blessed in the field. You shall be blessed in the fruit of your body, the fruit of your ground, the fruit of your animals, the increase of your livestock, and the young of your flock. Your basket and your kneading trough shall be blessed. You shall be blessed when you come in, and you shall be blessed when you go out. The LORD will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way, and will flee before you seven ways.”
It has been made clear in the Bible about the blessings of being obedient to our Heavenly Father. When reading the scriptures above, I feel so heart felt about wanting to the the right thing always. Who would not want to have abundance of blessings? Now how do we put this desire into action? If you do not live your life in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord, you will live a cursed life. The fruitfulness in your life will be limited and it will effect your entire family. Your children will pay the consequences of your actions in two ways. First by growing up and not having what they rightfully deserve and second because they learn from us and will follow our footsteps. What can we do to change our lives around and be bestowed the blessing our Heavenly Father wants to give us?
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
Jesus makes it very clear how to be able to do this. We are to crucify our flesh and carry our crosses. When following God, people sometimes think about the things they can no longer do. They do not accept the abundance of love that comes from following our God. We must be Christ like and make sacrifices in our lives to not only obey God’s commandments, but to lead by example like Jesus did. Only when you make the sacrifices on our earthly desires of pleasures, profit, relationships, or anything that would keep us from be obedient to God, will you be able to move forward. When we cheerfully and willingly bear those trails will God multiple everything in every aspect of our lives.
Take some time today and reflect on your life. Do you have a fruitful life? Have you been obedient to our Heavenly Father? Have you followed His commandments? Have you carried your cross? If you can answer no to these questions, how can you expect to receive the full blessings of our Lord? How can you expect to be a blessing to your family and a pillar of light to your community? How can you expect your children not to follow your actions? Think about these things long and hard and meditate on His word. Remember that the blessings from God are not always physical. By having knowledge and a relationship with God exceed any of our earthly desires. I pray everyone has a blessed day today!
