True knowledge

Today I will be sharing some insight from the book of Proverbs.  I want to write about true knowledge and how it should be applied in your household.  Parenting a new generation of godly children is very important in the eyes of the Lord and it should be for every Christian parent as well. So let’s begin!

Proverbs 1:7

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.”

One of most problematic people are those who think they know it all.  They refuse to listen to the counsel of others and are bound to fail.  Only the ones who are willing to seek counsel and mentorship from those qualified are the true winners in life. They have the discipline to follow our Heavenly Father’s commands and live with a reverence for Him.  These are things that we must ingrain in our children’s minds daily to ensure a proper start for a foundation of true knowledge for them.

Proverbs 1:8-10

My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and do not forsake your mother’s teaching: 9  for they will be a garland to grace your head, and a necklace around your neck. 10  My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

In this world, respect of the Lord should be the center of everyone’s life.  With all the technology we have today, gathering knowledge is simple and fast. However, those with wisdom to use the knowledge are very scarce.  This is because the foundation of knowledge is the fear of the Lord.  Having respect for the Lord and the fear not to live up to His expectations of us as the center of our life will guide  your attitude and actions to reflect only Him.  You should want to awe in His power and follow His word.

“Remember that our actions speak louder than words,” as my wife Amy would say.  This is especially true from within your home.  Our children learn from our actions everyday.  They learn morals, values, and respect from their parents.  Children learn from how you act at home, and how you act away from home.  If you live life devoted to the Lord; studying His word and being full of His love for others, your children will see this and follow your positive footsteps.  If you do not show your dependence for the Lord, they will most likely not follow Him as well.

Teach them right living and reverence for the Lord so they can grow up to do the same for their children. This will let them be a beacon of light to a new generation lost in the darkness with no one to guide them. Make worshiping God and studying the bible the center of your family’s life and watch the positive influence it will have in their life.  If you fail to do this, will they have the strength to turn away from the negative influences from other sinners like it states in Proverbs 1:10?  Please raise your children in a manner that is pleasing to our Lord.  I leave you with one last scripture and please have a blessed day.

Proverbs 3:7

“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.”
