Enticing Sin

Proverbs 1:10-19

“My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. 11  If they say, “Come with us, Let’s lie in wait for blood; let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; 12  let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit. 13  We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with spoil. 14  You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse.” 15  My son, do not walk in the way with them. Keep your foot from their path, 16  for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood. 17  For in vain is the net spread in the sight of any bird: 18  but these lie in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives. 19  So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.”

Sin has a way of being alluring.  Whether it is greed for money or any other type of sin.  It allows people to have short term pleasures and can even give you a sense of being “one of the crowd.”  When we fail to listen to God’s truth, our appetite for sin will become our masters.  We then become obsessed with them and a chain of bondage is created.  We tend to continue enjoying these short term pleasures and ignore the long term consequences.

Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Death is what sin properly deserves.  This does not mean sinners will automatically die.  However, even sinners in hell get treated the way they deserve to be treated because of their actions.  This is a scary thing being taken away from grace and the shield of protection our Heavenly Father gives us for being nearsighted.  We lose so much being caught up in sinning, not realizing you’re giving the enemy a strong hold and what you are allowing yourself to lose.

So what do you do?  Accept the free gift of Jesus Christ into your heart and your mind.  If we fail to listen to the warning of Proverbs 1:10-19 and Romans 6:23, we only have ourselves to blame when the final days of our judgement arrives.  What will you choose?  Eternal life or death?  Please think this over carefully before you chose to sin.  Maybe then you can weigh the consequences before you chose to act.  Please have a blessed day!
