Isaiah 45:22-24

Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. 23  By myself have I sworn, the word is gone forth from my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear to God.  24  Only in the LORD, it is said of me, is righteousness and strength; even to him shall men come; and all those who were incensed against him shall be disappointed.

The reason why I love this verse of scripture is because it clearly identifies that salvation is for all nations, not just the Israelites.  Many times I have read the bible and felt that the Israelites had a fast track into salvation and God’s heart.  However, salvation is for anyone that believes in God.  God makes it clear that His people are the ones who love Him and follow what He commands of us all.  If you take a step back and think about it, what an amazing statement is being made.  It does not matter where you are from, what you used to believe in, or your past sins.  God will take you as His child if you do what is commanded of you.  Israel was just a means for the entire world to come to know our Heavenly Father.  Jesus, our Messiah fulfilled Israel’s role and gave all the people of the world the opportunity to follow the One True God.

Ephesians 3:6-7

that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the a promise in Christ Jesus through the Good News, 7  of which I was made a servant, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.

Our God gives us love and salvation.  When looking over our Heavenly Father and the grace He bestows upon His children such as fellowship, love, compassion, and just all things good; why did the Israelites continue to fall off the bandwagon and worship other false gods? What entailed worshiping them and where did the people worship them. This is the second part of this short lesson I want to share with everyone is how good our God is by contrasting how evil the idols were.  I will only be going over a couple of the false gods, not a complete list.

1: Bel was worshiped in Babylon and his worship consisted of prostitution and child sacrifice.

2: Nebo was also worshiped in Babylon and his worship included prostitution.

3: Ashtoreth was worshiped in Canaan and also consisted in child sacrifice.

4: Chemosh was worshiped in Moab and consisted in child sacrifice.

5: Baal was worshiped in Canaan and his worship consisted in prostitution.

6: Dagon was worshiped in Philistia and also consisted with child sacrifice.

Looking at how evil it was just to worship these false gods, why did so many follow them?  The only thing I could think about that makes sense is the sins of the flesh.  I think a lot of these people used the prostitution to get the people into their temples and they would do whatever they were told to continue to enjoy their lustful desires.  But how can someone justify sacrificing children? There was so much evil during these times, just like there are today!

God offers us love and salvation no matter how low we get or how much we sin. I have sinned so much in my past and thought many times that I could never find true salvation, but I did through Jesus Christ.  I was once an idol worshiper and thought it was ok because it was the way I was brought up as a child. You all do not have to follow my footsteps and trails and tribulations to find your place in God’s heart.  When seeing how much evil there is in the world and all the false gods out there and what is needed to feed those beasts, how can you turn your back away from the one that never stopped loving you?

This lesson was to show how good our God is and how evil the world is and the idols that were once worshiped.  We may not follow Bel or Baal now of days, but many tend to follow lust, greed, and pride today just as much as in Isaiah’s time.  These sins lead to more sinning and puts you in a darker place in life because they can never give you true happiness.  I want to hold out my hand to anyone that needs help getting over these vicious cycles.  I did it and found the value of myself through Jesus and would love to help others find their way as well.  Just remember how good our God is and all He offers us before you think about sinning once again.  Please have a blessed day y’all and you can always contact me whatever time of day or night.  I want to be here to help anyone in need of prayer or guidance.  God bless you all!
