Don’t be your own worst enemy

Jeremiah 13:22-23

When you say to yourselves, ‘Why have all these things happened to me?’ It’s because of the extent of your iniquity that your skirt has been lifted up, and your heels have suffered violence. 23  Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

In this scripture Jeremiah is warning the people about their pride and stubbornness.  Does it not only lead you to sin, but over time it numbs you to it.  Even under the threat of captivity, the Israelites refused to repent and run back towards the Lord.  These people were so accustomed to sinning and doing what was evil in the sight of the Lord that they lost the ability to change themselves for the better.  God was warning them before it became too late. They had become their own worst enemy.

Have you ever been stuck in a spiritual rut in your life before?  You wake up and continue your normal routine with or without the Lord.  You may even catch yourself sinning a little, but tell yourself “it’s not that bad” so it is ok. Everyone goes through this every now and then, even ministers do to.  We are all human, but that is not an acceptable excuse for God.  The reason why this is not acceptable is because as time goes by you start to go numb to those little sins.  Some examples of these sins are lying, cursing, improper thoughts, watching nudity on television, and the list goes on and on.  When this is happening the world and the lust for your flesh is putting a wedge between you and your Heavenly Father.  The only difference between you and the Israelites is that you are not getting chased with swords and oppressed into physical slavery.  You are wrapped up in spiritual bondage that satan will use against you to make you feel guilty so you don’t turn back to God.  Have you ever knowingly did something wrong and felt guilty about it and didn’t repent for it.  You may have just pretended like it never happened. You just let satan win another battle.  Satan knows that lust, pride and other bad habits will move you farther away from the Lord.

There is good in this message and it is that the Lord wants to help change you for the better.  You only have to repent and let Him know you want to get rid of your bondages and addictions.  If you feel like you are going through this struggle now or know someone stuck in a spiritual rut, share this message with them.  Do not let your pride keep you from humbling yourself before your Heavenly Father.  Don’t put these spiritual matters off for tomorrow.  If you know that you need to repent, get up and move.  Don’t keep God waiting!

Proverbs 27:1

Do not boast about tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Since we are not promised tomorrow, make the choice to humble yourself and reflect on your past and current sins. Then seek the Lord for forgiveness.  Don’t just seek the Lord, run to Him. Our God is an awesome God. He want you for how you are today and not what you could be tomorrow.   If you are waiting to change yourself, it is almost impossible to do alone. Especially with bad habits, bondage, and addictions weighing you down.  It is only through Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit in you that will give you the strength to break those negative ties. Please don’t let your pride hold you back from freedom in true salvation like the Israelites in Jeremiah’s time.  Learn from them and do not let yourself be your worst enemy.

I pray that everyone reading this message today learned something to help you in your daily walk or to be able to help someone else.  I just want to leave you with one last piece of scripture to help you if you are still up against the fence in making that plunge. God bless you all!

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A powerful Message Faith Love And Road School and one that needs to be taken to heart and acted upon, Thank you for sharing God’s Truth and His Love and forgiveness for all of us.

It is True as we choose to walk in the Fruit of The Spirit, He empowers us so we can, which puts our Carnal flesh to death (Romans 8 :12-15- Romans 6- Colossians 3:4-6 -Galatians 5:24 -26)….. as we Aim to be Perfected in Love. (Matthew 5:48-Hebrews 6:1-2 2Corinthians7:1 -2 Timothy 3:16-17-2Timothy 2:19-21-2 Corinthians 13:11-1John 4:17-19) We than walk as Jesus did in Love and Righteousness. (1John3:6-7) we have the mind of Christ and do not choose to Sin (1Corinthians 2:16) we no longer have Adam’s seed or Nature we have God’s, the Old has gone the New has come, yes we are Born Again of The Spirit.

1 John 3: 1-11 ( 9 ) No one who is born of God will continue to Sin because God’s Seed remains in him he cannot go on Sinning because he has been Born of God.

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth everyone who Sins is a slave to Sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free you will be free indeed.

1 John 5:18-20 We know that no one who is Born of God Sins; but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

1 John 3: 1-11 ( 6-7 ) Whosoever abideth in Him Sinneth not: whosoever Sinneth hath not seen Him, neither known Him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth Righteousness is Righteous, even as He is Righteous.

John 8:34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who Sins is a slave to Sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

1John 4:16-17 And we have known and believed the Love that God hath to us. God is Love; and he that dwelleth in Love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our Love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.

Christ – mas Love and Blessings – Anne.

Thank you for your amazing comment and I agree wholeheartedly. Many times people want to blame another for their mistakes or their bandages. However, by keeping ourselves accountable for our own actions and thoughts will allow us to see things in another perspective. I think having the right perspective can change any situation that may be bad into a better one. I pray you really having a blessed day!
