Daniel was a high-placed advisor to King Nebuchadnezzar.  Since Daniel was able to understand and interpret the prophetic dreams of the king, he was trusted.  None of the kings sorcerer’s or mystics could interpret the dreams, however, the faithful servant of the Lord could.  The Lord places people in our lives to guide us like the Lord placed Daniel to King Nebuchadnezzar, however changing their mind is one thing and changing their hearts is another. Only the Lord’s conviction can do this and the scripture I am sharing with you all is a perfect example of not being able to change a person’s heart.

Daniel 4:1-3

AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM NEBUCHADNEZZAR THE KING To the people of all nations and languages who live on earth. Peace and prosperity to you! 2  It gives me great pleasure to tell about the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done for me. 3  How great are his signs! How powerful are his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom, and his dominion lasts from generation to generation.

King Nebuchadnezzar praised Daniel’s God to everyone because he knew that our God was mighty and powerful, but the king never submitted to God.  The king acknowledged the Lord, but did not put his faith in Him.  This same thing happens today, like Nebuchadnezzar, people proclaim God in many languages and many speak the “Christian lingo.”  However, they never fully submit to the Lord and by not submitting to the Lord they can never truly honor and worship Him.  It all becomes a lip service like Nebuchadnezzar.  Many people try to hide behind their position, status or education to proclaim the Lord, but He doesn’t care if you have a Masters in Divinity or a simple high school diploma.  God only cares about your true profession and that should always be to worship Him.

Now what does the bible say about true worship?  Deuteronomy 6:5, Luke 10:27, and Matthew 22:37 all state the same thing.  I’m going to share with you all what Jesus said:

Matthew 22:37-38

Jesus told him, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and most important commandment.

When you worship the Lord it should be done with everything you have in you and not just with your lips.  The Lord doesn’t care about just your words, but He does care about the actions you take after you say them.  So please don’t ever get deemed “religious,” but be deemed as a follower of Christ.  The only way this will ever happen is if your words match your actions.  Don’t just proclaim the Lord, but seek Him out and grab onto Him as strong as you can.  I leave you with one final piece of scripture to meditate on and I pray that you all have a blessed day!

Romans 12:1-3

I therefore urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices that are holy and pleasing to God, for this is the reasonable way for you to worship. 2  Do not be conformed to this world, but continuously be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may be able to determine what God’s will is—what is proper, pleasing, and perfect. 3  For by the grace given to me I ask every one of you not to think of yourself more highly than you should think, rather to think of yourself with sober judgment on the measure of faith that God has assigned each of you.
